Any
advice on saving money for meals while in Hawaii?
Food in Hawaii
can get expensive, especially if you are dining mostly at your
resort restaurants. But it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.
Here are some tips:
- Staying
in a condo means you can hit the grocery store on the island,
and prepare many of your own meals. A big cost saver!
- Scout out
the local mom & pop restaurants, where a blue plate dinner
will run you about $10.
- If out
and about on Oahu's North Shore, be sure to enjoy a meal from
the Shrimp Trucks, for about $10.
- Take advantage
of special breakfas- included promotions offered by many of
the resorts.
- Whether
staying at a hotel or condo, stock up on beverages at the ABC
store or grocery store.
Can
you recommend an all-inclusive resort in Hawaii that's like the
ones we've stayed at in the Caribbean?
Looking for
an all-inclusive resort in Hawaii? There aren't any.
A few hotels offer breakfast options, but you won't find the all-inclusive
resort so common in the Caribbean and Mexico. The Kona Village
on the Big Island offers an inclusive package with meals and lots
of other inclusions that's a great option, but it is pricey.
Will
we need passports to go to Hawaii?
Flying to
Hawaii is just like flying to any other US state. No passport
is required, though of course you'll need ID for your flights.
When is
the best time to travel to Hawaii?
Weather in
Hawaii is tropical year-round, with very little variation. The
average temperature here is between 75°-85° F. Summer,
between April and November is warmer and drier while winter, between
December and March, is a bit cooler. Fall and late spring tend
to offer the best deals because there are fewer people vacationing
those times of the year. Anticipate Christmas Week, Thanksgiving
Week, and Easter Week to be priced at a premium due to high demand.
Will we
need a car rental while in Hawaii?
If you are
staying in the Waikiki area of Oahu, a car rental isn't necessary.
If you do rent a car, expect to pay for parking at your Waikiki
hotel. Also if you are on Lanai or Molokai, you won't need a car
rental.
If you are
staying in Oahu but not in Waikiki or on the islands of Maui,
Kauai'i or the Big Island -- you'll definitely want to rent a
car.
Can we
prebook activities for our Hawaii vacation?
Certainly!
Activities to prebook include luau reservations, helicopter tours,
snorkeling tours, sea kayaking, guided hikes, bike tours/excursions,
Pearl Harbor tours, Polynesian Cultural Center tours, and day/sunset
cruises. You must have a Hawaii vacation package confirmed before
activities can be prebooked.
Are there
any special amenities for honeymoon couples?
We alert our
resort properties, prior to arrival, whenever we have guests that
are celebrating their honeymoon or anniversary. Many resorts offer
special amenities (bottle of champage, a box of chocolates, or
an upgraded room, for example) for honeymoon or anniversary couples.
