The Gulf Coast
offers world class beaches. And Southern Florida offers a metropolitan,
party atmosphere. Florida also offers more cruise options than
any other state. If you choose to cruise for your honeymoon, consider
staying in Florida a night or two prior to your cruise departure.
Orlando
-- the epicenter of Florida tourism, Orlando lies in the center
of the state. The Gulf coast is 90+ minutes away to the west (Tampa/St.
Pete), while the Atlantic is about that far to the east (Daytona
Beach and vicinity). If you've never been to Walt Disney World,
don't underestimate it's size, or it's fun potential. And, YES,
honeymooners can have a romantic week in Orlando. The key is in
selecting the right hotel and in balancing park time with time
alone. Disney also offers world-class dining in some of the most
romantic settings. For more information on Orlando, visit our

Ft.
Lauderdale area -- lying on the Atlantic north of Miami,
Ft. Lauderdale offers a convenient airport and cruise port. For
those cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale, stay a night or two prior
to your cruise in Ft. Lauderdale. Opt to pay a little more to
stay on the beach instead of at the airport, and you can enjoy
that unique Ft. Lauderdale flair. Destination

Miami/Miami
Beach -- Miami is a big, culturally diverse city. Miami
Beach is a long stretch of tall condos and high-rises. Miami's
taken alot of heat lately because of it's high crime rate, which
has scared off many tourists (especially European tourists). If
nightlife is what you're craving, this is your spot. Miami's home
to THE major cruise port, and a one or two night pre-cruise stay
can be a fun way to begin your honeymoon. Nearby are the Everglades,
definitely worth a visit.
The
Keys -- trailing off the southern tip of Florida like
a stingray's tail are the Florida keys. You can drive the entire
distance from Miami to Key West, or opt to stay at one of the
other many keys along the route. Key West offers an airport, though
I recommend flying into Miami and renting a convertible for those
who are planning a week trip (the adventure becomes half the fun).
Key West can be expensive, but what great sunsets, dive spots,
strolls, and Key Lime Pie! You can visit Key West also on a cruise
ship offering this island in their itinerary.
Pensacola-Destin-Panama
City Beach -- Northwest Florida offers an incredible
stretch of the whitest sand beaches you'll ever see. This area
is perfect for those who want to rent a condo & a car for
a week, then lay on the beach worrying about nothing at all. There
are enough good restaurants and nightclubs to be had that you
won't be bored. Sunscreen's a must.
Jacksonville/St.
Augustine -- Jacksonville itself is a large city, not
offering too much for the honeymoon couple, but there are some
charming beach communities along the Northeast Coast of Florida.
Amelia Island offers some excellent resorts in a historic, almost
"Nantucket" style. St. Augustine, further south, offers
great Atlantic beaches with the cultural charm of St. Augustine's
Old City (worth a leisurely afternoon's stroll). Oh, and for golf
enthusiasts, Jacksonville got some famous courses.
Tampa/St.
Pete -- on the West side of the Florida peninsula lies
Tampa Bay. Tampa is the "mainland" city, while Clearwater
and St. Petersburg are beach cities to the West of the bay. The
beaches here are clean, fun, and near a major city. There's a
fun mix of Cuban, Greek (sponge divers settled here), and Florida
cultural elements, and there's some great resorts and restaurants
as well. Disney World (lying to the West of Orlando) is an easy
drive for a day trip, and Busch Gardens is in Tampa as well. Tampa
also offers great golf and spa resorts.
